: the process of transforming and utilizing public spaces through events, art, activities, or interventions to engage the community and enhance social, cultural, and environmental interactions
In collaboration with Gothenburg Municipality we designed and facilitated workshops aimed at starting a dialogue surrounding Grönsakstorget, a former city square now a parking lot. For three weeks the square was closed to cars and instead supported needs and wants of new stakeholders.
Facilitated two method labs to engage with the public as a means of surfacing specific needs and wants
Preformed observations and ethnographic work to understand the space before, during, and after
Gained insights into people’s desires for a public space: car- free, green space, place to connect with others including natural surroundings
Presented findings to the Department of Citizens and Democracy: including quantitative and qualitative data
Learnings from our report were included in the city’s proposal for the future of Grönsakstorget
